She returned to the island each summer to help run the family business.

She spends the winter months fishing for lobster off Monhegan Island and the summer months fishing and running charters. In addition, she holds a 100gt U.S. Coast Guard Captains License, is an open-water certified scuba diver and is presently logging hours for her private helicopter license. She has previously owned and managed a hotel and restaurant that had been in her family for four generations. In addition, she ran a seasonal gift shop on the island. In her spare time, Zanidakis enjoys horseback riding, motorcycles, ice hockey, dancing, traveling and fishing.

Zoe Zanidakis was placed on the Rotu tribe. Things started badly when Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien constantly nagged everyone to make fire. The next day, the tribe discovered that a pair of majestic waterfall was their water source. Also, taro roots grew under the waterfalls. More good fortune occurred when John Carroll made fire. Rotu won immunity over the Maraamu tribe, which started their winning streak.
After reducing Maraamu to five members, the full tribe of eight headed to what was thought to be a Reward Challenge. Everyone had to stand on a circular pad. It was revealed to be a tribe switch instead. Zoe revealed her pad first, which had a Rotu buff. She stayed on Rotu with John, Gabriel Cade, Robert DeCanio, and Tammy Leitner. Kathy, Neleh Dennis, and Paschal English were transferred to Maraamu and replaced by Sean Rector, Vecepia Towery, and Boston Rob Mariano. Rotu continued their dominance by winning the next Immunity Challenge. The next Reward Challenge was for the right to raid the other tribe's camp. Maraamu finally won a challenge making a big dent in Rotu. Back at camp, John asked Zoe to join his alliance. Zoe competed in the Immunity Challenge, which was to build a Distress Signal. Hindered by the raid, Rotu lost immunity. At the first Tribal Council, the alliance sent the flaky and apathetic Gabriel packing. Maraamu continued their winning streak by costing Rotu a picnic lunch. Thankfully, Boston Rob lead Rotu to an immunity win.
The tribe got Tree Mail instructing them to pick a representative; Rob was chosen as the representative. The next day, Rob returned to the Maraamu tribe. They said the tribes merged and they had a new flag, and a new fuchsia buff. Rob said to Kathy at the summit that Rotu was aiming for her. Kathy asked Zoe about whether or not they were targeting her. Zoe denied the accusation, but Kathy knew she was lying. Kathy won immunity and voted against Zoe at Tribal Council. The Rotu Four, along with Paschal, Neleh, and even Vecepia, voted out Boston Rob for his scheming. At the next Immunity Challenge, the alliance knocked the other tribe members out of the running for immunity in the intended boot order. Upon the revelation, Neleh rallied Paschal to join Kathy, Sean, and Vecepia. At Tribal Council, Zoe secretly betrayed the Rotu four by voting against John. After John's elimination, Zoe tried to distance herself from Tammy and Robert. She went as far as saying that she was never aligned with Tammy and Robert. This further told Tammy she never liked her, leaving them both angered. In the first round of the next Immunity Challenge, Zoe outlasted Sean. In the next round, Zoe was defeated by Tammy, who won immunity. The others deemed her a bigger threat to win immunity over Robert, and with the help of Tammy and Robert who were angry with her, Zoe was unanimously voted out, becoming the second member of the jury. Zoe cast her vote against Robert.
At the Final Tribal Council, Zoe told the final two she felt she should be sitting in one of their seats. She congratulated Vecepia and Neleh for making it to the end. She ultimately deemed Neleh more worthy of the title of Sole Survivor and gave Neleh her jury vote. Neleh lost to Vecepia in a 4-3 vote.
