Story[]

Day 10[]

It's morning at Jaburu, and the women are still sleeping, except for JoAnna Ward, who is busy sharpening the machete, and Jeanne Hebert, who in a confessional said that it was a plan to get the women up earlier in order to finish the shelter. JoAnna complains that the fire had already burnt out when she woke up. Shawna Mitchell speaks in confessional about how she wakes up every day to the shooting looks that the two older women give her, and that she isn't alone in thinking that way, saying that it's driving the other women up a wall. Heidi Strobel, talking in confessional about this being a game for a million dollars and not a game of life or death, says that if JoAnna and Jeanne want to do all that extra work, she won't get in their way while she takes a breather or a nap, and that she's most likely going to outlast the two of them.

At Tambaqui, Dave Johnson, Butch Lockley, and Matthew von Ertfelda are fishing. Dave recites a little poem as the other guys laugh. Later at camp, the men hunt for grubs and worms on the Amazon floor to fish with, even finding a juvenile scorpion.

Back at Jaburu, the women congratulate JoAnna on catching a fish, her constant Biblical phrasings and advice is beginning to fall on deaf ears with the other women at camp, Heidi and Jenna Morasca in particular. Jenna talks in confessional about how in a tribe full of women, herself, Heidi, and Shawna could be percieved as threats just because of their youth and good looks and how things would be so much easier for her if both tribes were comprised of both men and women. In her own confessional, Heidi says the same. The two of them, as well as Shawna, spend time in the boat while fishing talking about how the older women are simply going to gang up on them eventually. They all come along to bring a fourth person to their alliance, Deena Bennett, which Deena is more than happy to accept since that would keep her safe for the time being, while talking in confessional that she has absolutely nothing in common with the young women of Jaburu, talking about how she's in her 40s and married with two children.

S6 matthew t
Matthew
Fishing is my forte. I love fishing. I've been fishing ever since I was a little kid. I know that no one can challenge my contributions to life here at the camp. I'm genuinely reaching out to various individuals. While I was certainly friendly with Ryan and Dan, I am individual. I think my actions are turning things around-- have begun to show some... um, some fruit, if I could say that. (chuckles)

Matthew manages to catch a large peacock bass, and he talks about how his fishing skills are really helping him get into the other men's good graces even though he feels he's the next to go at Tambaqui. Alex Bell talks how the men need this momentum coming into the upcoming Reward Challenge. Jeff Probst shows off what the tribes are playing for: a fully functioning freezer stocked with cans of Coca-Cola, which shocks and excites both tribes. Jenna volunteers to sit out for Jaburu. The challenge is neck and neck early, but the women pull ahead, managing to burn through their first two ropes first, while the men struggle to burn through one. The men then start to come back, however, and even pass the women, burning through their third rope. The women begin to bicker as they try to come back, but as the fourth rope is burnt and snaps, Tambaqui win the reward, while the men crack open some of the Coke cans to celebrate a win on the spot.

Back at Jaburu, Deena speaks about how everyone is feeling down, with Shawna being at her lowest point in the game yet, feeling depressed, dehydrated, and thinking out loud about quitting the game. Heidi speaks in confessional about how the women need her to stay so they have the numerical advantage moving forward, while Deena has some choice words in a confessional of her own.

S6 deena t
Deena
Shut up! Drink your water like you were supposed to be. Quit acting like this is the worst day of your entire life. I don't want you to whine anymore. I want you to get off of your butt and don't be a quitter. What do I do? Do I say, "Shawna, you're right. I need to protect you and you should go home?" Or do I say, "Hey, we're in it for us. We're not in it for somebody else that broke the alliance?"

Day 11[]

The next afternoon at Tambaqui, and the men are feeling a huge morale boost after winning all the Coca-Cola, as well as the refrigerator that can be used for other things. Dave confirms this in his confessional while the men celebrate the arrival of their new fridge and ice-cold drinks. Roger Sexton reads the can's nutritional facts, seeing that Coca-Cola has 39g of carbohydrates, 39g of sugar, and no fat, something the men already appreciate. Rob Cesternino jokes about how they now have something to read when they go to the bathroom, which draws some laughter from the other men. A smoked fish is being roasted over the campfire, and the men dig in. Matthew goes on to say that he wouldn't want to waste eating anything that is edible on the fish, including the eyeballs. Alex says he's hungry but not hungry enough to do that. Matthew then pops an eyeball into his mouth and chew away, drawing some shocked looks and respect from the rest of the men. Rob goes on to openly joke that "There's no I in 'team', but there is one in Matt's mouth", getting Matthew and other men to laugh.

Night falls, and Rob is requested to sing a song, and the guys all join in to sing along to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", while Rob and Butch both talk about what happens when a bunch of guys are around without any women nearby.

S6 roger t
Roger
Rob is the most enthusiastic... uh, kid I've seen. But I have to be honest, he really is pathetic. I mean, to be twenty-four years old, sing karaoke in your basement.

That night at Jaburu, a taxidermied piranha is delivered alongside a clue about the next Immunity Challenge via Tree Mail. Deena plays around with the piranha, and the camera zooms in on the piranha's serrated teeth.

Day 12[]

The morning sun rises, and both tribes row in on their boats to the Immunity Challenge, where Probst is waiting. Probst explains how both tribes have exactly one hour to catch as many fish as they can, and to be wary of any piranha they catch, as they will bite anything that they can, and warns them not to get careless when handling them. The tribe with the most fish by weight gets the Immunity Idol, as well as all the fish they caught in the challenge. Matthew has no issue catching fish at all, and his skills in fishing are a huge help, while some of the contestants talk to Probst about their fishing strategies. Halfway through, Jaburu begin to catch much more fish than they were before up until the challenge ends. Jaburu place their fish on the scale first, and then Tambaqui do the same. Probst lets go of the scale and the scale tips one way, revealing Tambaqui as the winners.

Shawna, feeling defeated, thinks that she will be the one going home at Tribal Council while speaking in confessional and being unsure of who to vote for, and Jeanne also talks about her thoughts on voting Shawna out, while still very concerned about Shawna's health. Deena feels bad for her as well, but talks with Jenna and Heidi about trying to get Shawna to vote with them. They ask Christy Smith about the situation, and she answers that she feels bad for Shawna. Christy then talks with the other three women as they try to convince Christy to vote out JoAnna as they see JoAnna as a much bigger threat that needs to be taken care of now. Christy says that she feels that Shawna is essentially trapped, speaking in confessional and weighing her decision on who to vote for, but she talks highly of JoAnna, due to JoAnna's contributions to the tribe while at the same time thinking about how the other women will feel about her moving forward after Tribal Council. Jaburu then paddle to Tribal Council.

Jeff Probst starts by asking Heidi about how everyone is feeling after losing to the men twice in a row, and Heidi responds that the women were all surprised about losing. Heidi continues talking about the leadership dynamic being put in place, and how Deena was elected to be their leader. Jeanne answers Probst's questions about the tasks being doled out, saying that everyone has an equal share of work to do around camp in a daily routine. She also talks about herself, Christy, and JoAnna bringing home the food they catch for the other women to prep and cook. Probst talks about JoAnna being a mother outside of the game, but JoAnna answers him by saying that Deena and Jeanne have done a better job of being matriarchs within the tribe. Deena explains her responsibilities to Probst about what she does in delegating tasks each day. Deena praises Christy for her undying work ethic and can-do attitude when working, while also talking about Shawna not picking up her end of the slack. She doesn't want to lose to the men in any other challenges moving forward, so her focus is tribe unity. Even though Shawna does recieve two votes, that isn't enough to send her home. JoAnna instead is voted out of the game by a vote of 4-2-1.

JoAnna
I'm very strong and a lot of people found that intimidating, particularly Deena. I hope that the girls will be able to win without me catching the fish and without me being there. (singing) ♪Hallelujah! Oh, glory! Hallelujah! Amen!♪ To God be the glory... all the time.
