Sandra Kay "Sandy" Burgin[1] is a contestant from Survivor: Tocantins.
Profile
Retrieved from CBS.com
A country girl through and through, Sandy Burgin grew up and still lives in Kentucky, where she takes pride in being the state champion of the School Bus Rodeo. A night owl by occupation, Sandy works the graveyard shift transporting construction workers to their work sites. As a professional driver for 30 years, she isn't a stranger to cat calls, especially since she is the one doing it. On one occasion she called out to a tall thin man, commenting on his physique when, to her surprise, he turned around and was clearly a priest!
She likes to unwind by crocheting or listening to country, oldies or some good old fashioned rock and roll. Her penchant for reading "do it yourself" magazines in addition to her fishing skills just might make her a valuable member of her tribe.
Sandy describes herself as funny and fearless and can't stand mean or greedy people. She is looking forward to interacting with new and interesting people and is thrilled at the opportunity to win a million dollars. With an outdoorsy nature (as reflected by her mouse tattoo) and a kooky personality, in combination with her determination to win, Sandy feels that she has what it takes to be the next SURVIVOR.
Sandy currently resides in Louisville, Ky. Her birthday is July 1.[2]
Survivor
Sandy was placed on the Jalapao tribe. She thought she could easily manipulate Stephen Fishbach because she thought of him as a geek. When the tribe was asked who was the weakest during the marooning, Sandy was deemed the weakest for her age. Sandy was extremely angry, but was joyous when she learned that she would get a ride to camp and not be sent home. When she arrived at camp, Sandy was given a note giving her a choice to build shelter or to look for a Hidden Immunity Idol that could only be used at the tribe's first Tribal Council. Not wanting to suck up to the people who deemed her to be at the bottom of the pecking order, she decided to look for the idol. Sandy only found clues and was unable to find it before the rest of the tribe arrived. Carolina Eastwood was upset that Sandy did not work on the campsite. Sandy still searched for the idol when she had the chance, but to no avail. At the first challenge, Sandy eventually took charge of Jalapao. Timbira won the challenge, placing Sandy in extreme danger. The tribe was impressed by how well Sandy did in the challenge, and at the same time, they were getting irritated with Carolina's perceived bossiness. At Jalapao's first Tribal Council, Sandy was spared and Carolina was unanimously voted out. The tribe received flint after Carolina's elimination.
Sandy soon proved herself a fierce competitor in challenges when she immobilized Erinn Lobdell at the Day 4 Reward Challenge. Jalapao went on a winning streak, winning four challenges in a row. Sandy enjoyed it, especially seeing the look of defeat on Coach Wade's face. Sandy preferred Sydney Wheeler to be the next to go because she viewed latter's flirting with Joe Dowdle and J.T. Thomas as strategic. On Day 12, Timbira finally broke Jalapao's winning streak by winning immunity. Joe, Sydney, and Spencer Duhm all wanted to vote Sandy out. However, Stephen, J.T., and Taj Johnson-George considered keeping Sandy (who was strong in challenges) over Sydney (who was pleasant around camp). Unfortunately for Sandy, they ultimately sided with the rest of the tribe and voted her out in a 5-1-1 vote.
