Rise and Shrine (also known as Temple Of Syrinx) is a recurring Survivor challenge. It debuted in Survivor: Cagayan and reappeared in Survivor: San Juan del Sur.

Rules

Survivors must race through a series of obstacles before climbing up a large set of walls to the top of a tower in order to complete a puzzle. The first tribe to finish the puzzle wins.

History

The challenge debuted in Survivor: Cagayan, where the winning team of Jefra, Jeremiah, LJ, Morgan, and Spencer won and went on a reward trip to Outback Steakhouse.

The challenge reappeared as the opening Immunity Challenge in Survivor: San Juan del Sur. The tribes would dash under a wooden structure, where they would collect various tools. They then had to ascend a course, first by hooking a large rope knot on a metal "V" shape, then by scaling some pegs, and then they would only use each other to get up a steep ramp. At the top, the two tribes had to solve a large, heavy triangular puzzle. Coyopa gained a small lead on the physical portion of the challenge, but after both tribes had a couple wrong configurations, Hunahpu ended up completing the puzzle first.

Trivia

• Spencer was the only person to win the challenge in Cagayan who was not a member of the original Solana tribe.
• Both groups to win the challenge had one more male than female competitor and both groups to lose the challenge had one more female than male competitor.
