Liliana Gomez is a contestant from Survivor: Fiji.
Liliana Gomez grew up the second eldest of eight siblings in the city of Oxnard, California. Born of Mexican descent, Gomez always held strong to her roots and decided, with the permission of her parents, to move to Guadalajara, Jalisco, for one year when she was 11 years old. Surrounded by the rich, colorful folklore of Guadalajara, she discovered her passion for music and singing.
Moving back to the United States, Gomez eventually became an assistant for handicapped children at a local junior high while she was attending high school. In 1999, she graduated from Rio Mesa High School and then immediately joined the United States Marine Corps where she served for eight years. Gomez received her training in Parris Island, South Carolina, and graduated as Squad Leader and Honor Graduate through Military Occupation School. During her tour in the U.S. Marine Corps, she served in the Operation Iraqi Freedom War in 2003.
Gomez is currently a mortgage loan officer in Los Angeles where she helps people buy, sell and/or refinance properties. She aspires to pursue a career as an entertainer as her passion has always been with the arts and working with children.
Gomez enjoys anything athletic, the outdoors, music, singing, dancing, independent films, barbeques and playing with her nephews, Frankie and Dario. She also enjoys following professional soccer. She describes herself as strong, stubborn, confident, goofy and a witty gal. She is most proud of her sense of family and her burning fire for life.
Liliana arrived on Survivor: Fiji confused, like all of the other castaways when they were all left on an island with no host, mats, or supplies. On Day 2, the castaways were notified to build a luxurious shelter for all 19 castaways. The group excelled thanks to architect Sylvia Kwan being in charge of the shelter's building process. On Day 3, it was revealed that Sylvia would be dividing the 19 castaways into two tribes. Sylvia picked Liliana to be on Moto. Moto won the Day 3 Immunity Challenge, giving them the luxurious camp, along with some housewarming gifts. Moto would be immune for the next three Immunity Challenges, and a majority alliance that consisted of Alex Angarita, Boo Bernis, Edgardo Rivera, Lisi Linares (who had a dislike of Liliana), and Stacy Kimball had formed, which Liliana believed she was a part of. On Day 10, Moto lost its first member, Gary Stritesky, when he quit due to medical reasons. Even though Gary quit, Moto won the Day 11 Immunity Challenge, but in a surprise twist, Moto had to choose between keeping immunity and moving to Ravu's camp or keeping their luxurious camp in exchange for immunity. Moto chose to give up immunity to keep their camp. Although alliance outsider Cassandra Franklin was considered a weak link, Lisi debated Liliana was a much bigger threat down the road and that she could dominate if she made it to the merge, and Moto could still win challenges without her. The alliance of five followed Lisi's plans and Liliana was blindsided, much to her shock and dismay. When her torch was snuffed, she said "if they didn't vote me out now, I would've beat them".
