Last Hero (Ukrainian: Останній герой Ostanniy heroy) is the Ukrainian version of the reality competition series Survivor. The first season premiered on October 16, 2011, with the final season ending on December 30, 2012. It was broadcast on ICTV.

History

The format of the show varies slightly from season to season, but the basic principles seen throughout the franchise remain the same. The castaways are divided into two tribes, who each live on different islands.

The game takes place over consecutive 3-day cycles. On the second day of each cycle, the tribes compete in a Reward Challenge to earn privileges, such as food, equipment, or messages from home. On the third day, tribes compete in an Immunity Challenge to earn totem that gives the tribe immunity. The tribe that loses attends Tribal Council, where someone is voted out of the tribe via a secret ballot.

Once half the castaways remain, the tribes merge. This is preceded by negotiations between ambassadors from each tribe who choose which of the two camps the merged tribe will live on and come up with a new name for the tribe. Once merged, the challenges become individual, and the merged tribe attends Tribal Council together. The 3-day cycle format continues until the final five. From this point, an Immunity Challenge and Tribal Council occurs every day until the Final Two is formed. They then attend the Final Tribal Council, where the jury, made up of people eliminated from the merged tribe, vote for a winner, known as "The Last Hero".

The struggles to win challenges often generated conflicts, conspiracies and splits within the tribes, with alliances being a common theme in the series.
