Koh-Lanta: La Nouvelle Édition is the 16th season of Koh-Lanta, the French version of Survivor. After the 2013 season cancellation, TF1 chose to restart Koh-Lanta with an all-returnees season.

Twists

• Individual Start: For the first time, the first episode of the game is completely individual. While eleven contestants take part in the first challenges and Tribal Council, two others (Freddy and Teheiura) start the game isolated, performing an expedition through the jungle during the first three days. They join the other contestants on Day 4, where they become the captains of a Schoolyard Pick, starting the tribal phase of the game.
• Ambassadors: At the merge, each tribe send an ambassador to a meeting. Their purpose is to directly eliminate a contestant, and if the two ambassadors do not agree on a name, one ambassador is eliminated by a rock drawing. This season, before choosing their ambassadors, each tribe send an emissary to the other camp, like in Raja Ampat and Malaisie. Contrary to these two seasons, the emissaries do not have the power to designate the ambassadors.
• Sudden Death: The final six Immunity Challenge is also an eliminatory challenge for the contestant finishing last. However, at the beginning of the next episode, a duel is held between the contestant eliminated at this challenge and the one voted out at the subsequent Tribal Council, with the winner returning into the game.
• Replacements: Due to two medical evacuations, two contestants returned into the game after being voted out.
