Retrieved from

Name: John Rocker (39)
Tribe Designation: Coyopa
Relationship to Significant Castaway: Julie's boyfriend
Current Residence: Atlanta, Ga.
Occupation: Former Major League Baseball Player
Inspiration in Life: My father. The majority of the values, ethics and moral that have made me who I am and shape me to this today. I learned from watching how he conducted himself. My father passed in 2007 and I still find myself wanting that ability to ask his advice on certain things because his direction was so important to me for many years.
Hobbies: Hunting, fishing and golfing.
Pet Peeves: Rude, lazy, selfish people and traffic.
3 Words to Describe You: Intense, self-motivating and responsible.
If You Could Have 3 Things on The Island What Would They Be? 1) Vodka 2) Toothbrush 3) Razor
SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: Jeff Kent because we have a similar background as an MLB player. We have a strong understanding of teamwork but are also very driven to attain individual success though Jeff is a bit more subdued than I am.
Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: To have an extremely unique life experience and to immerse myself in high level competition and like I've done my entire life, figure out a way to be the best.
Why You Think You'll "Survive" SURVIVOR: I have world class athletic abilities and leadership skills. I have the ability to read people and morph my personality in a way that lets me mesh with people from all walks of life.
Why You Think You Will Be the Sole Survivor: A relatively significant part of Survivor depends on athletic ability and I spent more than a decade of my life physically competing at the highest level. I still retain much of that physical ability as well as the mental toughness that is required. I also possess a high quality of outdoor survival skills which will be valuable to those around me as well as leadership skills and the ability to influence people and easily make friends.
What Does It Mean to You to Play Survivor with Your Loved One? To me, playing Survivor with my loved one means having the opportunity to engage in a very unique experience together. Life is about creating new experiences which many times can bind individuals together on a more intimate level. I am hoping that Survivor will do this for Julie and me.[3]

Survivor: San Juan del Sur

John Rocker started the game with his girlfriend, Julie McGee. When it was time to separate, John pulled an Orange buff, placing on Coyopa. John called Dale Wentworth badass when the 55 year made fire. John intended to keep his past as a former MLB player under wraps because of his infamous reputation and intended to lie and call himself John Wetland. However, Wes Nale was able to recognize him because he watched baseball as a child. Also, Wes' father, Keith had already identified him before the first Hero's Duel. At the Immunity Challenge, John was a major asset to his tribe. However, they lost because of the puzzle. The men of the tribe decided to vote against Nadiya Anderson because of her experience on The Amazing Race. She became the first boot of the season in a 5-3-1 vote.

At the next Hero's duel, Rock-Paper-Scissors against Reed Kelly and won, giving Coyopa the right to chose the participants. John volunteered himself and faced off against his girlfriend, Julie. However, John struggled in the Duel and lost. John was upset that he lost to a girl. Julie picked Jeremy Collins (who was also aware of John's past) to join John on Exile Island. Unfortunately for John, Alec Christy also learned about John's past and openly talked about him at camp. When the men arrived at the urns, John's paper was blank while Jeremy's had the clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol. Jeremy and John worked out an agreement to take care of their woman. At the Immunity Challenge, John faced off against Jon Misch but lost. Coyopa ultimately lost the challenge when Jaclyn Schultz lost her 2nd and pivotal match against Kelley Wentworth. John decided to align himself with Jeremy's wife, Val. Val claimed to have an idol when in reality, she was lying. Though John seemed to believe her, he decided to look for an idol himself and found it. John tells Val about how to the vote would go down and to play the idol at Tribal Council, not knowing Val didn't had any idols. The vote was tied 4-4. John was upset Val didn't play her alleged idol and voted against her.

After Tribal Council, Josh Canfield, who was supposed to vote against Baylor Wilson, explained why he voted out Val and why didn't tell John before the vote. At the Hero's Duel, John came under heavy fire from an angry Jeremy, which the former anticipated. John apologized to Jeremy for his failure to save Val from elimination, although John pointed out he did everything his in power to lobbied for her. Josh was alarmed by this and lost trust in him. Wes won the duel for Coyopa and picked out fishing gear for the tribe. However, Coyopa lost the Immunity Challenge. Afterwards, Natalie Anderson yelled at John because of his past controversial statements. John yelled back at her and admitted he would hurt her if she was a man. At Tribal Council, John believed that Baylor was leaving and that he didn't need to use the idol. However, John was blindsided in a 5-2 vote and was upset with himself because of not using his idol.
