John Paul "JP" Hilsabeck is a contestant from Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.

An overall invisible character, JP's status of being a physical threat was protected by his relationships with Chrissy Hofbeck and Ryan Ulrich. Going into the final nine, the three were ousted by the rest of the Solewa majority alliance for their delusionality. Worried that JP would prove to be a physical threat, the new majority targeted him and successfully blindsided him on Day 27.

Hobbies: Surfing, hiking, and outdoor activities.
Pet peeves: People that don't follow through.
Three words to describe you: Outgoing, adventurous, and romantic.
What's your personal claim to fame? Being hired as a firefighter and having a good group of friends that I can count on.
Who or what is your inspiration in life? My dad because he showed me that hard work and the right mindset can get you anywhere in life. Never quit and never give up.
If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why? My dog Thor because he's my best friend, a GoPro for the adventure photos, and a picture of my family and friends to keep me inspired because I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
Survivor contestant you're most like: Jay because he was outgoing, fun, and was just down to earth.
What's your reason for being on Survivor: The experience, adventure, and the chance to win the million dollars.
Why do you think you'll "survive" Survivor? After watching the show, I always told myself "I could do that!" I love being outdoors and in the elements but most of all, it's the challenges and adventure that I thrive off most. You not only have to be athletic but smart and able to read people. As a firefighter, I feel that gives me an advantage. When we go on medical calls we have to pick apart the problem and figure out what's wrong so we can treat the patient. I feel that with my athletic ability and personality, I will be the final Survivor![2]

Starting on Levu, JP and Ashley Nolan formed a bond, and the two formed an alliance of four with Alan Ball and Ben Driebergen. However, on Night 2, Alan accused JP and Ashley of being a power couple and having a Hidden Immunity Idol which they denied, and JP even stripped to prove his innocence. Levu lost the first Immunity Challenge. Despite Alan's confrontation with JP and Ashley, the alliance stayed strong and voted out Katrina Radke at the first Tribal Council. Despite voting together, Alan's actions splintered the alliance, and both Alan and JP were put on the outs, though Levu managed to win the next two Immunity Challenges.

JP, along with his Levu tribemate Chrissy Hofbeck were switched to Soko after the Tribe Switch. Soko lost immunity on Day 14. When Chrissy lied to him about Roark Luskin wanting to start an all girls alliance, he believed her and decided to target Roark. He joined Chrissy and Ryan Ulrich in voting out Roark at Tribal Council. Soko lost immunity again on Day 16. While Ali Elliott appeared to be an easy target Ryan considered targeting JP for being a physical threat. At Tribal Council, Ryan and Chrissy stayed with JP and Ali was unanimously voted out though JP received a vote from Ali.

When JP reached the merge, he along with Ashley, Chrissy, and Yawa members aligned together and targeted the Soko members. After successfully voting out Soko members Jessica Johnston, Desi Williams, and Cole Medders, his alliance members Lauren Rimmer, Ashley, Ben, and Devon Pinto broke away from the alliance, and formed a final four alliance leaving JP, Chrissy, and Ryan on the outs. At Tribal Council, JP voted for Mike Zahalsky, but the new alliance sided with Mike and Joe Mena, blindsiding JP.

At the Final Tribal Council, he asked Devon if there was communication with Ryan when he got blindsided, and accused Ryan's lack of work ethic. He was one of the five jurors that voted for Ben to win.
