John Paul "JP" Hilsabeck is a contestant from Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.

A physical threat from the start, JP was protected by his relationships with The Round Table, particularly with Chrissy Hofbeck and Ryan Ulrich. However, once the Round Table began to fracture, he swiftly became the first victim of a campaign launched by Lauren Rimmer to take out members of the opposing side.

Age: 28
Hometown: Los Angeles
Current residence: Los Angeles
Occupation: Firefighter
Hobbies: Surfing, hiking, and outdoor activities.
Pet peeves: People that don't follow through.
Three words to describe you: Outgoing, adventurous, and romantic.
What's your personal claim to fame? Being hired as a firefighter and having a good group of friends that I can count on.
Who or what is your inspiration in life? My dad because he showed me that hard work and the right mindset can get you anywhere in life. Never quit and never give up.
If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why? My dog Thor because he's my best friend, a GoPro for the adventure photos, and a picture of my family and friends to keep me inspired because I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
Survivor contestant you're most like: Jay because he was outgoing, fun, and was just down to earth.
What's your reason for being on Survivor: The experience, adventure, and the chance to win the million dollars.
Why do you think you'll "survive" Survivor? After watching the show, I always told myself "I could do that!" I love being outdoors and in the elements but most of all, it's the challenges and adventure that I thrive off most. You not only have to be athletic but smart and able to read people. As a firefighter, I feel that gives me an advantage. When we go on medical calls we have to pick apart the problem and figure out what's wrong so we can treat the patient. I feel that with my athletic ability and personality, I will be the final Survivor![2]

Survivor

JP was initially placed on the Levu tribe consisting of "Heroes" for his occupation as a firefighter.[3] Right off the bat, JP and Ashley Nolan developed a bond, and the two formed an alliance of four with Alan Ball and Ben Driebergen. However, on Night 2, Alan accused JP and Ashley of being a power couple and having a Hidden Immunity Idol, which they denied, with JP even stripping to prove his innocence. When Levu lost the first Immunity Challenge, the alliance stayed strong despite Alan's confrontation with JP and Ashley and voted out Katrina Radke at the first Tribal Council. Despite voting together, Alan's actions splintered the majority alliance, and both Alan and JP were put on the outs, though Levu managed to win the next two Immunity Challenges.

On Day 9, JP, along with his Levu tribemate Chrissy Hofbeck, were switched to the Soko tribe after a Tribe Switch. When Soko lost immunity on Day 14, Chrissy lied to him about Roark Luskin wanting to start an all-girls' alliance, JP believed her and joined Chrissy and Ryan Ulrich in voting out Roark at Tribal Council. When Soko lost immunity again on Day 16, Ali Elliott appeared to be an easy target, though she campaigned to eliminate JP for being a physical threat after the merge. Though Ryan siding with Ali, both he and stayed with JP, and Ali was unanimously voted out.

When the tribes merged into the Solewa tribe on Day 17, he, along with Ashley, Ben, Chrissy, and Ryan aligned with the remaining Hustlers Devon Pinto and Lauren Rimmer against the Soko Alliance. After successfully voting out Jessica Johnston, Desi Williams, and Cole Medders, Ashley, Ben, Devon, and Lauren broke away from The Round Table, and formed their own final four alliance, leaving JP, Chrissy, and Ryan on the outs. At Tribal Council, the new alliance sided with Mike Zahalsky and Joe Mena, blindsiding JP first for being a physical threat.

At the Final Tribal Council, JP asked Devon if there was communication with Ryan when he got blindsided, and accused Ryan of a lack of work ethic. He was one of the five jurors that voted for Ben to win.
