Bobby "Bob Dawg" Mason is a contestant from Survivor: Panama.

Originally on the Viveros tribe, Bobby was stuck on Casaya after the tribe switch, where he was forced to deal with the more eccentric personalities of his season. After an argument with Courtney Marit, and the possibility of him flipping over to La Mina at the merge looming, he was voted out by the women of Casaya.

Bobby Mason grew up in South Central Los Angeles, where he lost three friends over the years to gunshot wounds. When Mason reached high school, his parents facilitated his admittance to one of the top college prep schools in the country, The Harvard School (now known as Harvard-Westlake) in North Hollywood, California. While at the Harvard School, Mason was exposed to a diverse community of children from varying cultural and economic backgrounds and varying degrees of privilege. Mason declares he had experiences and made lifelong friendships with people that he otherwise would probably never have encountered or been exposed to. He honed his dream of being a scholar/athlete at the highest levels and was able to realize this when he was admitted to Amherst College in Massachusetts.

In 1996, Mason received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in political science from Amherst, where he had also played baseball. He went on to attend Stanford Law School, graduated in 2000 and is currently an attorney in Los Angeles. He previously worked as an assistant to a sports agent and a consultant at a consulting firm.

Mason is a member of the American and California Bar Associations, Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association, Black Sports Agents Association, National Association of Record Industry Professionals and Los Angeles Music Network.

In his spare time, Mason enjoys working out, any competition, fantasy baseball, drawing, reading and comic books. He describes himself as dominant, loyal, malleable and stubborn. He is most proud of being an all-around good guy. He was on "Blind Date" in 1998.[1]

Survivor[]

Bobby was placed on the Viveros tribe with the rest of the season's younger men, Aras Baskauskas, Nick Stanbury, and Austin Carty. Viveros won the first Immunity Challenge. On Day 4, the Viveros and Bayoneta tribes were dissolved, and Bobby was picked for the Casaya tribe. Casaya lost the first Immunity Challenge, and Bobby voted with the majority to eliminate Melinda Hyder.

After Melinda's elimination, Bruce Kanegai joined Casaya, and formed a close relationship with Bobby. Bobby, Bruce, and Cirie Fields were on the outside of the dysfunctional alliance of four consisting of Danielle DiLorenzo, Shane Powers, Aras Baskauskas, and Courtney Marit. Cirie was told that she would be the next to go, but Casaya won the next two Immunity Challenges. After winning wine and other luxuries in a Reward Challenge, Bobby and the rest of the tribe decided they would drink it together in celebration.

When a rainstorm occurred, Bobby and Bruce felt that their spots in the shelter were taken. Bruce went to sleep in the outhouse, previously won in a Reward Challenge, and Bobby joined him with the bottle of wine. The next morning, Cirie discovered them and was disappointed in them. Courtney was especially upset that Bobby and Bruce drank the wine, but he did not care. Casaya lost the next Immunity Challenge, and the alliance of four was deciding on who to vote off. Shane promised Bobby that he would take him to the final six, and Aras wanted to vote off Bruce. However, the women were afraid that Bobby would flip on them and go with the rival La Mina tribe if he made it to the merge. Aras still pushed for Bruce, and Shane said he would not vote for Bobby. At Tribal Council, Aras and Bobby voted for Bruce, Bruce voted for Courtney after doing yoga on his rock garden, and Shane voted Aras as a throwaway vote. However, the three women formed the relative majority and Bobby was voted out 3-2-1-1.
