After the welcoming ceremony, Dave Cruser was placed on the Zhan Hu Tribe. He noticed that Ashley Massaro was feeling ill, despite her profession as a pro wrestler. Zhan Hu lost the first challenge, costing the tribe flint and sending them to Tribal Council. Seeing that Ashley's health wasn't improving, He and Chicken Morris decided to vote her off. At Tribal Council, when asked about who wanted to be the leader, both Dave and Peih-Gee Law wanted that position. Ashley viewed Dave as the leader and voted against Peih-Gee. The rest of the tribe decided to vote off Chicken for his hesitancy.
After Chicken was voted off, Dave decided to build a fire pit. He focused all of his attention on the fire pit. This irked his tribemates, Jaime Dugan with referring to his fire pit as a "glorified barbecue pit". Ashley in particular was annoyed by this. Dave ignored her when Ashley suggested to build a fire or gather food. This lead to the first of many arguments between the two. Sherea Lloyd noticed this and said that you can't boss adults around with angering them. Zhan Hu lost the Reward Challenge and fishing gear. Due to a Twist that allowed Fei Long to kidnap of the losing members, they chose Jaime. After the challenge, the camp was filled with water. The fire pit was still dry, which Dave gloated about. At the Immunity Challenge, Dave ran out of energy quickly due to his work ethic at camp. This cost Zhan Hu the challenge. Although Dave was in Danger for polarizing everyone, the tribe decided to get rid of the ailing Ashley instead.
After Tribal Council, Dave still worked his butt off at camp. Peih-Gee stated that Dave didn't learn anything. At the next Reward Challenge, Dave went naked. The men was unable to score a point against the strength and athleticism of the Fei Long men, especially James Clement . Thankfully the women won Zhan Hu its first challenge and Kerosene, comfort items and a tarp. The tribe decided to kidnap Leslie Nease from Fei Long. This was a wise choice as Leslie didn't fit in with her cynical tribe. The women gossiped with Leslie to reveal Fei Long's secrets. Zhan Hu was able to win Immunity, keeping Dave safe.
The rain has caused the rice to grow mold. Dave was agitated when Sherea tried to save the good rice, thinking she was contaminating the remaining edible rice. They start arguing, much to the tribe's annoyance. The Reward Challenge was held at night at the Tribal Council area. Zhan Hu lost the challenge again and Dave was kidnapped by Fei Long. Dave was happy to get away from Sherea and enjoy Fei Long's reward of Food. However, his personality and mannerisms cause the Fei Longs, especially Todd Herzog to view him as a crazy person. Dave gave his clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol to Todd, much to the latter's delight. Zhan Hu lost the immunity and Dave was in danger for annoying his tribemates. Dave tried turn the vote against Sherea who wasn't working at camp. When the vote came, Dave was unanimously vote out.
