Bret LaBelle is a contestant from Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X.
Initially in a power position in the Takali tribe, Bret soon found himself on the bottom, and saw many of his closest allies eliminated. After managing to reach the merge, Bret proved to be a social threat, using his sharp wit and humor to be liked by almost everyone. His ineptitude in individual Immunity Challenges hindered him late in the game and, after the failure of a final attempt to break up the majority alliance, he was blindsided on Day 37.

Name: Bret LaBelle
Current residence: Dedham, MA
Occupation: Police sergeant
Tribe designation: Takali (Gen-X)
Three words to describe you: Gregarious, funny/hilarious, and caring.
Hobbies: Going to the gym, golf, improv, and bicycling.
Pet peeves: Couples who sit on the same side of the booth, people who talk politics and religion at Thanksgiving dinner, and bullies.
What does it mean to be a Gen-Xer? A Gen-Xer is someone who had to work very hard for everything that they have in life. They actually had to go to school (not just online), ride the bus, and study hard to get good grades. Gen-Xer's take responsibility for their own actions and don't blame others for their mistakes. Gen-Xer's remember a time when Saturday morning brought the best cartoons, they know the difference between VHS and Betamax, and they certainly know what it means to drop a dime.
Personal claim to fame: Receiving the Human Award for Bravery from the Governor of Massachusetts for disarming a gunman in 2014.
Inspiration in life: My father Donald LaBelle because he's funny, honest, and compassionate, and would give the shirt off his back, if need be.
If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why? Sunglasses because the sun is very bright out in the open; toothbrush because healthy teeth are the key to a healthy life, no matter where you are; and toilet paper, which is self-explanatory.
Survivor contestant you're most like: I would say Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands, Micronesia, Philippines) because we are both funny, easygoing, and under the radar.
Reason for being on Survivor: I love this game! Who wouldn't want to get the chance to take part in this amazing adventure? My second motivation is the million dollars.
Why do you think you'll "survive" Survivor? I will win this game. I'm extremely likeable and can relate to a lot of different people. I can read people like a book. I can tell if someone is lying to me or telling me the truth from my 18 years as a police officer. I will lead people without them knowing I'm leading them.
Bret started on Takali. On Day 1, he aligned with Chris Hammons, and was put off by David Wright's paranoia and anxiety. When Takali lost immunity, Bret formed the Takali Alliance and recruited Chris, Sunday Burquest, Jessica Smith, Lucy Huang, and Paul Wachter. At Tribal Council, the alliance voted out Rachel Ako. When they lost immunity again, Bret's alliance targeted CeCe Taylor, but Jessica, Sunday and Lucy sided with the minority alliance of David, CeCe and Ken McNickle, and blindsided Paul. The morning after Tribal Council, Lucy told Bret and Chris that betraying Paul was Jessica's idea, and Bret, Chris, Lucy, and Sunday targeted Jessica for being untrustworthy. Takali lost immunity foe the third time. Bret's alliance voted for Jessica, but David played his Hidden Immunity Idol on Jessica so Lucy was blindsided.
The next morning, Bret and the others searched for the rehidden idol which David found. Later that day a Tribe Switch occurred. Bret and Sunday were switched to the new Ikabula tribe, and were joined by fellow Vanua's Michaela Bradshaw, Jay Starrett, Will Wahl, and Hannah Shapiro. Bret and Sunday appeared to be on the outs. When Ikabula lost immunity on Day 20, Michaela targeted Bret. At Tribal Council, Bret received votes from Michaela and Hannah, but Jay and Will sided with him and Sunday, so Michaela was blindsided.
The next day, the merge occurred. Bret reunited with his allies. That night he caught Taylor Stocker stealing food, but didn't tell anyone until the next day. At the merged Tribal Council, Bret joined the majority in blindsiding Triforce member Michelle Schubert. At the next Tribal Council, Bret aided the majority in eliminating Triforce member Taylor.
With Taylor gone, Bret and Chris decided to spare the last loyal Triforce member Jay and target Jessica. David won immunity. At camp, Bret's alliance talked to Zeke about blindsiding Jessica, but at Tribal Council, Zeke and Hannah who were caught in the middle sided with David's alliance and blindsided Chris. After Tribal Council, Bret—having lost his closest ally in Chris—tried aligning with Zeke, who suggested they eliminate David for being a strategic threat. The next morning, David tried aligning with Bret against Zeke, but Bret told Zeke about David's plan and Zeke told Bret about David's idol. Bret, Zeke, and Sunday won the Reward Challenge, and David got to join them because he picked the white rock which resulted in him joining the winning team. On the trip, Bret came out to Zeke, and the two and Sunday affirmed their alliance against David. Jay won immunity. Zeke formed Zeke's Vinaka Alliance and recruited Bret, Sunday, Jay and Will against David's Vinaka Alliance. During Tribal Council, Bret lashed out at Ken and made fun of David's anxiety. He and his alliance voted or Hannah, and the vote ended in a 5-5 tie between Hannah and Zeke. He voted for her in the revote, and the vote ended in a 4-4 tie. He then participated in the rock drawing Tiebreaker, and Jessica was eliminated after picking the wrong rock.
Bret's alliance was now in the majority. The next day, Bret met his dad Don at the Loved Ones Challenge. He and his alliance minus Will voted for Hannah, but Will flipped and Adam Klein played an idol on Hannah so Zeke was blindsided, and thus leaving Bret on the bottom. Jay won immunity. At camp, Adam talked to Bret about blindsiding Will for his strategic unpredictability. At Tribal Council, Bret and Sunday aided David's alliance in blindsiding Will. At the next Tribal Council, Bret and Jay voted for David, but Sunday was blindsided.
On Night 36, Bret, Adam, David, Hannah, and Ken blindsided Jay. Ken won immunity on Day 37. At camp, Bret and Adam decided to target David; Adam then searched for a Hidden Immunity Idol, which he found. At Tribal Council, Bret and Adam voted for David, Adam played his idol but received no votes, and David, Hannah, and Ken blindsided Bret. After his torch was snuffed, Bret congratulated David, and told Hannah, Ken, and Adam they lost the game.
At the Final Tribal Council, Bret asked Ken when he started to play, but cut him off and re-asked the question when Ken gave an unsatisfying answer, and then asked Adam to explain how he got rid of David. Bret along with the other nine jurors voted for Adam to win.
