Since the beginning, Benry became an alliance outsider. With the younger La Flor tribe divided into two conflicting alliances, one consisting of himself, Shannon Elkins, Kelly Bruno, Alina Wilson, and Fabio Birza versus the "racial" alliance of Brenda Lowe, Chase Rice, Kelly Shinn, NaOnka Mixon, and Sash Lenahan. After losing the Day 6 Immunity Challenge, Shannon's alliance targeted Brenda for her perceived craftiness. At their first Tribal Council, Shannon's foul-mouthed statements caused Benry and Kelly B. to side with the other pact, which led to Shannon's demise. Despite this, Benry was left under the mercy of the majority alliance, though he remained indispensable for his athletic ability needed in challenges. La Flor went on to win the next two Immunity Challenges.
At the Day 13 Tribe Switch, Benry was transferred to the Espada tribe with NaOnka, Chase, and Alina. Since the switch, the younger members decided to stick together. And with the addition of Holly Hoffman and to a lesser extent Dan Lembo, their alliance became the catalyst of the eliminations of Tyrone Davis and Yve Rojas.
When the tribes merged on Day 19, Benry was in line for elimination because of his strength, making him a decent threat in the individual challenges. With this, Benry went to several (albeit mostly failed) alliances to save himself. A plotted all-male rebellion was concocted by Marty Piombo after the guys (minus Chase) won the next Reward Challenge, only to be thwarted by Chase and Sash, who both joined the women in eliminating Marty instead. After Marty's demise, Chase attempted to eliminate Benry (whom Chase felt untrustworthy, despite their friendship), though it all failed when Chase's alliance partner NaOnka decided to turn everyone on Brenda instead, and with that, Benry and seven others (including Chase) eliminated Brenda.
Following NaOnka and Kelly S.'s voluntary departure from the game, Benry, Fabio, and Dan decided to reassemble their all-male alliance. After winning the next Reward Challenge, Chase picked his alliance partners Holly and Jane Bright to join him (breaking a previous promise that Chase uttered to Sash about taking him should Chase wins a reward). Using this as an opportunity, Benry's alliance became open at inviting Sash to their pact.
After enjoying their reward, Chase realized his mistake with Sash. As a solution, he and Holly came up with a plan to tell Sash that the two would vote out Jane and take Sash to the Final Tribal Council. Chase also told Benry that Jane would not make it to the final three, to which Benry said that was fine and he was willing to vote out Fabio instead. In revenge, Sash told Chase and Holly that Benry was lying about being willing to vote for Fabio. When Benry joined the conversation, the three told him that the next target was Fabio. With Sash winning the next Immunity Challenge, it was up to him of where would he side. At Tribal Council, Sash ultimately joined Chase's alliance, blindsiding Benry.
As a part of the jury, Benry voted for Fabio, who eventually won the season.
