Beg, Barter, Steal is the first episode of Survivor: Pearl Islands.

Story

Day 1

The beautiful scenery of Panama opens off the episode as 16 castaways arrived on a boat to the Pearl Islands wearing only the clothes on their backs.

“	We're onboard the Rembreth on rine heading South off the coast of Panama to a remote location in the Pacific waters of Central America. Down below, 16 Americans who have no idea the adventure of a life time has already begun. After traveling all night, they arrived at Panama City early this morning, boarded this vessel, suitcases this untouched, still wearing the same clothes they had on on the plane. Right now, they're relaxing, under the false assumption that we are several days away from starting the game. They think we're heading out to take publicity photos; what they don't know, this game has already started and it is full of surprises. For instance, those suitcases so carefully packed with essential outdoor clothing; worthless. The only clothes they're gonna be taking are the clothes on their back and more twists await. Their destination? The Pearl Islands. A land with a bloody history of looting and piracy. Brutal battles took place in these waters as pirates prayed on unsuspecting ships, plundering their gold, silver, and pearls. The jungles which were the perfect hideouts for these pirates are rugged, the weather temperamental, the waters here are owned to some of the most magnificent, but deadly marine life anywhere in the Pacific ocean: sharks, stingrays, eels, even whales thrive in a spectacular world beneath the sea. This will be their home for the next 39 days. They must learn to adapt or they'll be voted out of their tribe. In the end, only one will remain to claim the million dollar prize. 39 days, 16 people, 1 SURVIVOR!	”

Jeff Probst welcomed the castaways to the Pearl Islands. He alerted them that the game of Survivor would be starting exactly at that moment, which received very shocked faces among the castaways who were completely not prepared to start the game so soon, as they expected the game to start a few days later. He told the castaways he was aware that they had luggage and plenty more downstairs, however they wouldn't be allowed to have that same luxury the contestants from the previous six seasons of Survivor were given, explaining they will start the game with only the clothes on their back simulating the idea of them actually being shipwrecked on a remote island.

“	He says the game starts; you're taking nothing. I was like oh shit.	”
— Sandra

Jeff comments on the wardrobe of the castaways with a majority of them wearing suits and dresses. He points out that Nicole was wearing a strapless dress and that Lill was representing the Boy Scouts of America by wearing a scouts uniform.

“	I'm wearing a Amani suit. How am I going to get by? What am I going to do with a suit?	”
— Shawn

“	I was like, okay, well this is fine, I don't have a bra on, I hope my dress stays up.	”

Jeff states that he took the liberty of going through their suitcases and collecting their footwear to provide them with a fighting chance at the challenges. He then asked them to take out and give their personal items (watches, wallets, money, passports, jewelry, etc.). Osten brought everybody laughter as he put wine and alcohol into Jeff's bag. Jeff then states that they will be separated into two tribes named after the two most notorious pirates in Panamanian history: Drake and Morgan. The Drake tribe being the blue tribe and the Morgan tribe being orange. He calls Shawn forward and sorts him in Drake, he then calls Darrah over and sorts her into Morgan, Christa is then called upon and sorted into Drake, Osten is then sorted into the Morgan tribe. Rupert is told to come forward and is sorted into Drake.

“	Rupert is the man. I thought, this dude is cool, he's a big old hippie, and ugh he looks strong as an ox.	”

Jeff then sorts Lillian into the Morgan tribe. Trish is then sorted into the Drake tribe. Ryan S. is then sorted into the Morgan tribe. Burton followed being sorted into the Drake tribe. Tijuana is then sorted into the Morgan tribe.

“	Tijuana, she's unbelievable. She's a Nubian princess. That's how good looking she is.	”
— Oston

Michelle is then sorted into the Drake tribe. The next member of Morgan was Ryan O with Jeff pointing out there are two Ryans. The next member of the Drake tribe was Jon.

“	I go by the manicure of Johnny Fairplay; I don't play fair.	”
— Jon

Jeff joked that the Morgan tribe would be very happy as the next member was Nicole who was wearing nothing under her dress. She walked over to the wrong group, where they point towards the other side of the boat and she found her correct tribe after handing Jeff the bag of personal items. The final member of the Drake tribe was Sandra. The final member of the Morgan tribe was Andrew. Jeff told the tribes that the clothing issue was of their smallest concern as they would have nothing when they arrived at their camps. However, he gave them an opportunity to control their own fates. He handed each tribe a sack filled with 100 Balboas, which is Panamanian money. He instructed to use the money at the small fishing village behind him to get the supplies and materials they need to survive the next 39 days. He tells them that they are allowed to barter and hands each tribe a map to their new homes telling them they need to set aside enough money to buy a boat and a driver to get them to their island which is where there camp will be situated before sundown.

“	I was like oh my god, what have I done? This is beyond what I bargained for. I knew it was gonna be the adventure of a lifetime I didn't know it was gonna be this big of an adventure of a lifetime.	”

Jeff then throws the castaways' shoes overboard and sends them off to begin their journey. The tribes jumped overboard the ship with their destination being to make it to the village with their tribemates.

“	I don't get in the water, I respect the water. *laughs* Unless I have to, we have to, and I had to. And I'm not like that strong of a swimmer so I was in a state of shock. I was like oh my lord, I could be in a state of hurt right now.	”

“	I never would have thought swimming with my clothes on would have be so hard, but it was. With my thick denim jeans my legs were rubber. It took all I had to keep kicking and getting it to shore. I was spent. And it hadn't even started yet!	”
— Rupert

The Drake and Morgan tribe made it to shore, however The Morgan tribe didn't come to shore together as Nicole and Darrah immediately took off and Ryan O. left without the rest.

“	We didn't come to shore together at all. I was hoping that we would come together with some plans, some goals, ugh what we wanted to go to first, but that wasn't the case at all. Ugh some of the girls took off and ugh Ryan O. he he just took off. He was gone it's like he wasn't even part of the tribe. He was gone, he had his own mission, and I don't even remember him consulting anybody about it.	”

“	I wanted to check out the village and get to certain places and find where stuff was first and also try to find where the boat was. And I run all the way down to the boat dock and I didn't have a map, I didn't have any money to pay this guy.	”
— Ryan O.

Burton, Rupert and Shawn brought the lifeboat filled with the Drake's shoes footwear to shore. Rupert handed Shawn their bag of Balboas. The Morgan tribe came up and dropped their stuff next to Rupert when Burton and Shawn left to go explore the village. Rupert took advantage of the situation and used the opportunity to buy goods for his tribe.

“	When I got to those stairs, I was done. We sit the sucker down and I needed to rest. The other team Morgan came up, sat their stuff next to us, and all left. This is definitely a pirate adventure. Pirates pillage, pirates steal, pirates take advantage. If they were gonna be silly enough to put it right next to me, I'm gonna put it in my thing. All their trade goods, all the little women shoes, the insuls. Everything that I could find in there I took. I always said I would lie, steal and cheat to win this game. There was my stealing; I stole from the Drake.	”

Meanwhile, Morgan found some luck, as Osten traded in all his clothes (save his boxers) so he could buy goods for Morgan. Despite working hard to get materials for his tribe he made a bad first impression on Nicole when he suggested to her, along with Lill and Darrah to flash their breasts at the old guys as they may be horny to attempt the gain some of the desired materials for the tribe.

“	The way we attacked getting our supplies at the village was ugh a bit chaotic, it was confusion. We only had a limited amount of money, so I made an impulsive decision to sell my clothes to benefit my tribe. You know you gotta go fast on some people and I was gonna try and do whatever it took to made a sale so we could have more money for my group to do whatever we need to do with the money.	”

“	Osten, cause you know girls, we don't necessarily have to spend our money, with these old guys they're really horny, so you can just show them your boobs. He didn't even know our names really yet, or us at all. That was his first you know introduction to us, I was like this guy's a jerk.	”
— Nicole

Sandra was a huge factor in the Drake's tribe increasing prosperity at the village as due to her fluent Spanish speaking skills she was able to communicate clearly with the villagers to receive what the tribe needed and she was liked by the village as she was very respectful versus the other tribe who were shouting and arguing at the town people.

“	Sandra, she was so amazing in the town because she spoke the language and worked out all these incredible deals and it wouldn't have been possible.	”

“	When we got to the village I was lucky that I knew Spanish and I was trying to bargain with the lady at the store and ask people for certain things. The lady at the store had it in for Trisha. Trisha thought the lady was laughing and giggling with her whatever, but the lady actually I think, you know liked her in a sexual way. There's Trisha hugging the lady, laughing and giggling like it's all good and it's like yo' we need to go.	”

“	I feel like the village people really respected Sandra, because she was being nice and decent about things and respectful, unlike the other tribe who was screaming at people.	”

“	We're walking out with the merchandise we payed for and then another person says "no you didn't pay for it". Wait what? I'm sorry? So, it definitely was a difficult situation, especially when you don't know all the words you need to say	”

“	I don't really get along with Tijuana, she seems like extremely overexcited about things and that was just frustrating for me.	”
— Nicole

“	We handled it to the best of our ability and in the end they came out on top by saying face it we'll give this to you, so worked out well.	”
— Tijuana

Sandra came into a spot in the village where people were singing, playing music and dancing and she saw that a lady was having a barbecue. Sandra traded her gold chain with the lady to gain food, sauce and wrapping material for the tribe. The Morgan tribe was very upset to see how well the Drake tribe did compared to them.

“	We went around the corner and there was this lady having - they were dancing - she was having a barbecue. And I said you know I'll give you this gold chain for everything you have here and she looked at my chain and she was like "yeah". I put the chain around her neck and she was like "what do you want?" I said "I want all your chicken, I want your aluminum foil, I want your ketchup, your hot-sauce, your barbecue sauce, she had a cutting board, a knife, everything. The only thing we didn't take was the grill.	”

“	I was definitely pissed to see the Drake tribe and all of the wealth they came too, all of the fortune. That definitely just kinda deflates you a little bit, like man we could have done that, we could have been even more prepared. They were taking their time and we weren't.	”

Osten rushed his tribe to get down to the boat to leave, which frustrated Ryan S. and Lillian as they still had money left over that could have been used to buy more goods for the tribe. Osten's shorts came down as they boarded the boat, this would be the first of many of the pleasant event to come.

“	We had money leftover, we should have spent absolutely all the money. I don't think we ugh fundamentally did the right decision. I think we could have gotten a few more good supplies. I think people were just too anxious to get on the boat and get the thing started.	”

“	As far as getting enough that we need, only time will tell.	”
— Osten

The Drake tribe left the village with rice, beans, containers, chicken, toothbrushes, wine, machete, and a ton of other stuff. They were successful with bartering and using the Balboas they were given by Jeff. The Drake tribe knew all of the wealth they gained would get them set for the next 39 days and make life at camp much easier.

“	We did very well in the village. You know we managed to get a ton of stuff for the little bit of money we had.	”
— Sandra

“	We got fishing line, a bunch of hooks, I know we got fishing spear for catching fish. We got wine, we got a huge tarp, we got two machetes which are essential. I put about forty dollars in my pocket, so it wouldn't be in the bag just as a safety measure, because I figured with that I can definitely get a ride.	”
— Shawn

“	We're pretty well fit for the jungle right now. I think we're definitely ready to go all out for the next forty days.	”

The Morgan tribe arrived at their beach and unloaded their supplies from the boat. After they got off the boat they began discussing what plan of action they were going to take. Osten was quick to start barking orders at his tribe and wanted somebody to scout the area and get the fire going and for the heavier people to move the stuff.

“	Seeing the flag, I'm thinking I can't believe I'm here, this is the coolest thing that's ever happened to me in my entire life. I think that should be the first big celebration just sheer excitement, it was none of that. I got off the boat last, I walked up and already people talking about where are we gonna put our camp? Bla, bla bla. Like man we're here, let's jump up and down, let's give some hugs, let's do something that's none of that.	”

“	I was in game mode. I wanted to get it down. The words "sunrise is going down quickly" came in my head. I knew that we needed to act fast.	”
— Osten

“	Osten was running up and down looking for the perfect spot to put the camp. Osten's a big dude, I mean he's god like muscles out to yea. And I've been ugh noticing them the whole time, cause he let's you know he has muscles, he let's you know "hey, I am strong". I'm like okay.	”
— Ryan S.

Osten was suggesting they make their shelter in a way to protect them from the rain. He asked Lillian to get the fire going while he would transport the objects over to the area. Lillian accepted that request and got to work starting by digging up sand to form a perfect spot and then using a lighter to start the fire stating that her troops at home would be disappointed in her decision to do so.

“	Lillian and her scout uniform was interesting to say at least. I was completely thrown off kilter when I saw that, I didn't know what the hell was going on, or what it was a joke, or what was going on, I was just confused.	”
— Osten

“	It's real hard to take off the scout hat. It's real hard not to be the scout master here.	”
— Lillian

Ryan O. suggested that they made the shelter lean against the rock wall, which would be much easier to build and take up less time then making a normal kind of shelter. The tribe considered it to be a very good idea and the men immediately got to work on building it.

“	There's this big, shale, rock wall and we think this great bamboo post just naturally lying around and we're like, this is the best.	”

“	We made sure we had somewhat of a shelter. It was a lean tube, but oh well, you can only do so much in that amount of time.	”
— Ryan O.

The Drake tribe arrived at their camp and also began unloading their endless supply of materials. The group celebrated after getting off the boat forming into a circle where they got themselves pepped up. Talks of building the shelter raised then. Shawn and Burton discussed that the shelter should go between the trees they talked by.

“	Burton as well as myself, you know off the start we started getting everything going and we just a little more strong personalities, a little more physical, you know mentally as well.	”
— Shawn

Trish asked them whether firewood or bamboo was the priority for the tribe and they answered that both were. The tribe worked hard as a unity and they were all contributing to getting the objectives accomplished. However, some members were tired and exhausted and thirst started setting in. Burton opened up a coconut and shared the coconut milk with Shawn and Michelle only.

“	I was surprised at how quickly we all worked together. I mean we know who we were, what your name was yet, and um without a matter of probably ten minutes we all sorta spread out and it worked out pretty well.	”
— Trish

“	One of the first items on our to-do list when we got here was to build a shelter and we did that. Actually, it looked pretty good.	”
—Burton

“	I was really tired I mean, just exhausted. It was like for the love of God I mean I just wanted to breathe for a second. I was like does anybody have water?	”
— Christa

“	Burton opened up a coconut and he shared the coconut milk with only Shawn and Michelle. I gave Christa the look and I said did they offer you any coconut milk? And she said "no and I wanted some".	”
— Sandra

Burton and Shawn continued to order the other tribe members around to fill their desires and criticized anything that didn't please them, which annoyed some of the other tribe members. Their relationship and work ethics alienated some of the members of the tribe such as Rupert, Christa, and Sandra. Burton picked on Rupert saying "I love it when people have a beard it's like it catches anything that falls."

“	Shawn and Burton are a little out there in their leadership. I just think they need to be a little careful with that, because they've already alienated some people.	”

“	Shawn is being a pain in the butt. We're a strong little team, but the dynamic duo there that are prospering for the lead role need to be a little more careful, because they are going to make everybody hate them.	”
— Rupert

The Drake tribe used their map given to them by Jeff to find the well that contained the water. They arrived there where they were greeted with a major amount of mosquitoes just waiting for flesh to devour for lunch. The group suffered from many bug bites all over their skin with the exception of Jon who was practically untouched by the mosquitoes compared to the rest.

“	After making the shelter we went to go get water. It's about a quarter of a mile for water it's not that bad, however that's where every single mosquito on this planet lives. Every one of them!	”

“	I am getting eaten alive, every single one of us. It's worse then I have ever, ever, ever seen.	”
— Michelle

“	We're getting torn up pretty bad. I'm the least out of anyone, that's it, that's all I got. Shawn, he looks like the moon. Except their reverse.	”
— Jon

Back at the Morgan camp, Tijuana alerted the tribe that there wasn't a sufficient amount of water available to them at that moment and that they should go find some to boil in the pot and drink. The tribe failed to realize the path to the water was located on the map, but they used the running water they found on the ground that was described as looking like beer and being orange and rusty and probably having a bunch of diseases in it. So, the tribe attempted to find another source.

“	We saw some running water and ugh it looked pretty orange it looked rusty. It was not the kind of water you'd want to drink, even if you boil it 24 hours.	”

“	It looks like beer. We neonard throughout this beach, trying to estimate where it may or may not be. Water's essential, you need that. The heat, the humidity, your body's evaporating fluids constantly and you need to be replenished or you'll dehydrate, or you'll be going home. And I don't wanna go home right now.	”
— Osten

At night, Morgan had some troubles at their camp. They couldn't sleep, on account of the shelter not being situated in an efficient area or fashion as rocks were falling from above, and hermit crabs were biting them. Nicole joked that they should build their shelter in a ring of fire so the crabs couldn't get to them. Ryan O. openly took the blame for not lifting the shelter off the ground and apologized to the others. Osten then thought that there was a snake in the shelter, but it turned out to just be a pong frond that kept moving.

“	The rocks falling from the cliff. Um, but it just didn't work out at all, because we think it's going to get work especially if it starts to rain. As far as the little hermit crabs, I think that we're living in their home pretty much, because they were just crawling all over us and they pinch and there were literally dozens of them.	”

“	Osten thought there was a snake, but it was a pong frond that kept curlin' and movin' and he freaking... he's pushin' people out of there and we're laughin'.	”

“	If I see something or feel something I automatically go right into freak out mode and I don't know why... every time, it just never fails.	”
— Osten

“	It's hilarious, we call him Scary Mary, because he's never really been in a jungle environment. Any little thing if it touches his toe he leaps out of the air and just shrieks.	”

Meanwhile, at the Drake camp, the tribe celebrated their new home by drinking the Panamanian wine that they bought at the village, which made Jon incredibly drunk. Rupert joked that they didn't get any light or hygiene material, but at least they got boos. Jon commented that if they were 17 they would all be naked. Jon cracked more jokes and cursed excessively while doing so and while he said in a confessional it was an asset for him, he received mostly mixed to negative reactions from his tribemates.

“	I was thinking of getting the booze yesterday, we ended up trading a pair of mismatched shoes for some jugs of wine and that was a big deal for me	”

“	I don't know if it's moonshine, wine, or just green alcohol, but we crack it open and taste it, it's the best tasting stuff we've ever had.	”
— Burton

“	Jon, he reminds me of my boys who I mentor who just pop off stupid stuff. You know just talking about getting some honey, or smoking something, drinking something.	”
— Rupert

“	Everyone laughs at all my jokes. I knew going in that was going to be a huge bonus for me, because I'm not very strong and I don't profess to be. However, I'm a funny guy.	”
— Jon

“	Jon is a goofball, he can kinda get the whole group laughing, get it together. I mean which is great, because we definitely need that out here, but at times I think he's a little obnoxious.	”
— Christa

“	I really can't stand him, he talks to much crap, all night long, cursin'. He thinks it's cute, but it isn't. It gets old, it's already old.	”
— Sandra

Day 2

Light rain fell onto the Drake tribe as the morning arrived. Michelle made a comment to Shawn and Burton that she didn't expect the piece of cloth she was holding to dry any time soon. It was very apparent the tribe was uncomfortable with having their casual everyday clothing on their backs as Sandra could be seen limping as she was walking and Rupert was "dying" due to his pants being so thick and tight.

“	Sleeping last night soaking wet really sucked. We did not purchase any clothes in the village. We didn't think it was necessary at the time.	”
— Michelle

“	Out of all the things that could happen I never thought that this would be one of them. To just have whatever you have on and that was it.	”
— Sandra

“	I'm wearing my dancy, my dress jeans. Suckers were thick and hard and heavy. And them pants killed my crotch. Wear nice wet denim rubs for a day and a half and just starts eatin' that skin away.	”
— Rupert

The tribe resorted to finding a solution to the agonizing situation. Sandra rapped her foot with fronds stating she didn't want to wear her shoes as she wanted them to dry off for once. The tribe realized they could take advantage of the situation and change their clothing features to be more comfortable to stay in. Michelle started she could cut some of her pants off and make it a top and Christa supported the idea. Trish had help in cutting off some of her dress, saying that she felt much better after. Michelle helped cut off Shawn's suit to make them shorts. Christa realized she could use her dress to help Rupert out with his clothing issues as well (as Michelle) and still have some for her.

“	A lot of us were pretty miserable, but it was like wait a second there's really a lot of stuff that you could do with just a few pieces of clothing.	”
— Christa

“	I'm wearing a nice armonies suit, but I had no choice, they just had to come off. Those shorts they dry in half the time, but I saved the bottoms cause I'm planning on making them convertible pants for the night.	”

“	My dress was falling apart so we decided to go ahead and improvise.	”
— Christa

“	We had a little fashion club meeting and took apart her dress	”
— Michelle

“	Half of her dress is now, a skirt for Michelle and the other half is a skirt for black beard.	”
— Jon

“	I got the little teasing and laughing with the girls as we made it and I put it on and I look really silly. It's done. I'm wearin' a dress. I'm never gonna put them pants back on.	”
— Rupert

At the Morgan tribe, Tijuana suggested that they go scavenge for water. The guys are insistent they should stay and finish the shelter before going out to look however. Tijuana then discovered the map that was given to them by Jeff had the path to the location of the fresh water the whole time. The other members of the tribe were very shocked that they could have found the water they needed a long time ago and everybody was onboard for looking now that they knew where to find it. Ryan S. told Lillian that he was angry they didn't check the map earlier. Lillian told Ryan S. that she is used to acting and looking like a scout and because she's failing to do that out in the wild they will critique her heavily when she gets home which Ryan S. found funny. Lillian and Ryan S. were very excited when they found the water.

“	The biggest thing that we need is water. They say we'll go later for the water. Personally, we need to do it now.	”
— Lillian

“	We were looking everywhere for the water source, not thinking 'oh let's look at the map'. Look at the map, found water well, so I was excited cause we've been needing water for so long.	”
— Tijuana

“	Actually yesterday, we built a half A-frame up against a shale wall. It's actually pretty funny cause I think the shale wall was home to about three hundred hermit crabs which paid us a visit in the middle of the night, so that's why we should probably move our shelter. We're doing a little penthouse suite here, it's actually going to have a floor, we don't wanna be on the floor anymore so that the crabs can get us.	”

“	Lillian think I'm her probably her best friend at the moment. She kinda looks at the other girl whose trying to be cute and pretty and stuff and ugh me and her go off and have a good time and talk and stuff.	”

“	The one person who befriended me with sincere friendship was Ryan Shoulders. Ryan's a good thing.	”

Back at the Drake tribe, Burton decided to go fishing with the spear gun due to not liking the idea of being inactive around camp. Shawn joined him on the endeavor. Burton quickly managed to catch one of the plethora of fish much to the tribe's satisfaction. Rupert however knew he could be more of an asset for the tribe and went out to get a fish. When he caught one he went out to get some more and got a saltwater catfish. The tribe was shocked as Rupert went out again and again trying to get a fish for each member of the tribe. After his fifth one the tribe began to be concerned about his body and if he can handle getting more. Rupert didn't manage to get one for each member of the tribe as he couldn't handle anymore, but they were certainly satisfied with his work.

“	I'm a very active person. I don't like to sit around doing absolutely nothing. And we had this spear gun and I looked around and was like 'hey guys, I think I'm gonna go out'. Shawn went with me and we went out and we were swimming around got into this huge mess of fish it's all over the place.	”

“	Burton had the spear at first and next thing I know he cocks it and all of a sudden we go a fish. I'm so excited that you know alright this thing works we can do this.	”
— Shawn

“	It feels great to be able to catch food, but I knew that one fish just wasn't gonna be enough, so I took the spear. So I start catching fish. After I got that, I thought, okay, some more, some more. I was thrilled, I've never seen a saltwater catfish, I didn't know they made such an animal. I got to the point where I thought I was gonna get the eight of them, and everybody was going to get their own fish. I didn't get eight, but we got us fish.	”

“	Rupert is definitely a huge asset. I mean he works hiss ass off, but he was beat. I mean it took him hours to recover from that.	”
— Shawn

Day 3

As the morning of day three arrived at the Morgan tribe, Ryan S., Nicole, and Darrah went out to check the treemail. They found an orange boat with a treasure chest in it. Nicole opened the chest to find a piece of paper. The treemail told them the game was on and the upcoming important immunity challenge would be a test of brains and brawns. It told them they want to win as none of them should want to be voted out first. Tijuana jokingly said "you know what booty that is" giving the tribe a laugh. Andrew gave the tribe a pep talk reminding them that the challenge won't last long and that they just need to focus to succeed. Nicole suggested that Andrew lead the tribe so that they stay coordinated in challenges. The tribe then got on their boat and headed for the challenge.

“	You finally arrived so now it's on, Your first challenge is a test, of your brains and your brawn, Like pirates of old, it's the treasure you thirst, But no booty will be had, if you're voted out first.	”

“	I made a suggestion, just because because I knew I didn't want to be the leader, but I knew that we needed somebody. So, we appointed Andrew ahead of time as our leader before the challenge.	”

“	The Morgan tribe I think is very ready for the challenge. The biggest concern from my standpoint from our tribe is Osten's having difficulties with his shorts last couple of days staying up. The crack of his bottom kept showing. And we said during any activity against the other tribe if his shorts go down, Ryan and I told him we're a team, we're a family and we wont make him embarrassed by being nude, so we'll do the same.	”

The Morgan and Drake tribe arrived at Snapping Duck Bay where the challenge was hosted. Jeff explained that pirates (the theme of the season) had to protect the loot they plundered by moving from an island to another and transporting their utility with them and therefore the tribes would be doing the same. Each tribe had a canon and they needed to transport it through a series of obstacles. They had to take the canon apart first and get it through two fences, then they had to clear a path filled with rocks to get it through, and then they had to drag it through mud and then race to the finished with one member carrying the tribe flag and one carrying the tribe torch. The tribes needed to cross the the finish line with all eight members and their canon intact.

When the challenge began, Nicole held the Morgan flag and Darrah held the Morgan torch. Christa held the held the Drake flag and Sandra held the Drake torch. The Drake tribe took off with Rupert in the back end of the canon pushing. The Morgan tribe was trailing, but they both met up at the first obstacle. Drake made it through first as Morgan continued to fall behind. At the second obstacle Osten informed some of the others that his short kept falling off and per the deal that some made with Osten to get naked in the case that occured in a challenge various male members of the Morgan tribe took off their shorts. Morgan continued to fall behind however as the tribes came to the third obstacle in which they needed to push through multiple fences. As the race to the finish line continued, the Drake tribe's cannon got stuck in the sand allowing Morgan to past them. The Morgan tribe was bound to win, however their cannon got stuck, allowing Drake to catch up, cross the finish line, and take the victory, while Morgan would have to do to Tribal Council where one member would become the first person voted out of Survivor: Pearl Islands.

Coming back from the immunity challenge, the Drake tribe was very happy to have pulled off their first win as a tribe. The tribe joked about the shocking event during the challenge when the Morgan males stripped down, with Rupert saying he was ready to puke and cry and Burton saying there was too many of them. But overall the tribe was happy to not have to send anybody home that night.

“	When we won that challenge we beat em not on brute strength alone, but we beat em on basically willpower. They gave up and we didn't. You know, we almost did, but we didn't. And I think that's why we made it to the end.	”

“	At the immunity challenge, I looked back and I saw one guy with his junk just hanging out just like you know, nobodies business. And I was like woah, I shouldn't be looking! *laughs*	”

“	I wasn't impressed. I don't know what was going on with them, I wish their ding-a-lings was got stuck on a vine or I don't know. That was just stupid.	”

Back at the Morgan camp the tribe seemed bummed to have lost their first impression under the circumstances that happened. Andrew cheered up the tribe telling them the performance they showed may have been bad, but they will pick themselves up, learn from it, and beat the other tribe the next challenge remembering how cocky the Drake tribe was when they scored their first victory.

Nicole, Tijuana, and Darrah went out together to talk about the vote out and Andrew and Ryan O. joined in on the discussion. Andrew told the girls that they saw what he say and Tijuana curiously asked what that was. Andrew stated he saw Ryan S. back at the camp quit on himself. Tijuana brought up that Lillian worked hard when around camp on the fire and getting water, but that they could all accomplish those tasks. Andrew said if the other challenges are strenuous keeping Lillian is a big mistake and wondered if Lillian could handle it or if they would keep Ryan S. adding in that he was a "limp noodle".

Lillian discussed with Ryan S. as she worked stating she didn't fit in with anybody there at all. Ryan S. suggested Lillian hang in there as the game changes every day and that she should only give up if her torch when her torch is snuffed. Nicole came aside with Lillian and told her she felt Tijuana needed to go as she felt the guys shouldn't go while they're still building the shelter and she likes them. Lillian rushed to Andrew and Ryan O. and informed them that Nicole wants to vote out Tijuana, because she is bugging her, which the guys found as a terrible strategic move. Andrew told Tijuana about Nicole's plans to form an alliance with Lillian and blindside her. Tijuana then approached Darrah and and Nicole and confronted Nicole. Nicole denied that she ever said she would vote Tijuana off that night and stated she felt that Tijuana was making the situation uncomfortable for her. Tijuana replied that she was simply asking to find out the truth. Time for discussing the vote came to an end and the tribe had to head out to Tribal Council.

“	I took the challenge lost I think the hardest, because I feel like I am going to be encouraged to leave. I think my teammates like me, but somebody has to go. No one else has side with me other then Nicole. Nicole came to me and she wants to get rid of Tijuana, you know okay, you know why?	”

“	Lily, I had some conversations with her and I believe everything she says. I don't think she has a dishonest bone in her body.	”

“	What I had to do is find out is Nicole lying? Was she really trying to put me on the cutting block? I really think she was. I think Lil, I just don't think she has a reason to lie.	”

“	I did talk to Lillian to get rid of Tijuana, but word got out of that, because Lill's freaked out that she's getting voted off tonight so she's telling everybody. I set myself up in a really bad position telling some truths, telling some half-truths and trying to get things to go my way.	”

“	I was getting along with Nicole there for a little while, which I still am, but you know now I don't know if I can trust her.	”

“	As far as Nicole, I think it is enemy status, it's gotten to that point I can't trust her, so yes, she's definitely an enemy. She came right off the bat trying to take me down, for what purposes? For what?	”

“	The people I think are at risk: Skinny Ryan, I just don't think he has been pulling his weight at camp or at the challenge, Nicole with the high drama today, she's been labeled in some people's eyes as being dishonest and she's next on the line cause we don't know if we can trust her, and Lily is her neck on the chopping block? Yeah, she's definitely a contender to be voted out tonight.	”

Jeff instructed the tribe to grab a torch and approach the flame as part of the ritual of Tribal Council as it represents life in the game because when their fire is gone so are they. He commented on the fact three guys got naked at the challenge saying it's one thing to get naked and win the challenge and another to get naked and lose it. And asked if any of the guys had any regrets of that. Osten answered that they absolutely did not have any. Jeff asked Ryan O. how it's been for the past three days trying to get along with people he didn't know. He said the first three days was cool as he gets along with everyone and everybody liked him and also added that he could care less about the food, but was struggling with water.

Jeff asked Andrew if he was struggling with water as well and Andrew answered that he was very hydrated going into Tribal Council and that sleep is the concern he's had as he hasn't gotten much of a chance to do so for the past three days. Jeff asked why this was so and he replied that they built a hut and the poles were uneven so it didn't work out well. Jeff asked Lillian if he was a scout master and confirmed she was adding on she had eleven years into her uniform. He responded with a follow up question asking if it had served her well out in the wild and she responded that it had and that it also gave her patience. Jeff asked Nicole if she's made any friendships and she answered that it was too early to say and she couldn't really trust anyone yet as she saw several sides of people that get defensive in some circumstances, obviously talking about Tijuana.

Jeff asked Lillian if anybody had emerged as the leader of the tribe and she answered that Andrew was elected as one by the team and that he had did a great job in his role as he listens to everyone's opinion and she values that in a leader. Jeff asked Andrew, the confirmed leader of Morgan now, who he felt wasn't pulling their weight around camp and Andrew immediately threw Ryan S. under the bus saying he gave up at the challenge and didn't show the passion that the tribe required. Jeff asked Ryan S. if he felt that he was pulling his weight, and he stated that he did in fact give 120% at the challenge and was fine if people thought differently.

Nicole was the first to vote and threw a vote towards Ryan S. surprisingly instead of Tijuana as she felt the her other tribe mates were voting him out that night for his lack of contribution around camp for the first three days. Tijuana threw her vote towards Nicole due to the fact that she stabbed her in the back and added that she was glad she found out in time so she could save herself before anything bad could happen. Jeff tallied the votes and read them, in which a not surprised Nicole gathered Tijuana and the other member of the tribes' vote due to her dishonesty which sealed her fate in a seven to one vote. Before the tribe left to head back to camp, Jeff reminded them that they should never lose hope in the game. A preview of the next episode teased that Shawn causes Rupert to lose his cool and that a member of the Morgan tribe wants to quit.

“	I knew going into it that my biggest weakness would be keeping my mouth shut. When I have an opinion about something I just can't keep it in. It doesn't surprise me that I am sitting here. Based on past experience, I knew I would be either the first person off or the one who won. Even with a million dollars at stake, I still had to say what I thought when I thought it and that's what did me in, in the end. I sorta shot myself in the foot by trying to make an alliance early on to get rid of someone who annoyed me. In hindsight, that wasn't the best way to play the game.	”
